What is sinusitis?

Sinusitis occurs when the sinus cavities become inflamed, swollen, or blocked, usually due to infections, allergies, or anatomical issues. This inflammation can lead to a buildup of mucus, creating pressure, congestion, and discomfort that lingers for days, weeks, or even months.

Common symptoms of sinusitis include:

  • Facial pain or pressure (especially around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead)
  • Nasal congestion or stuffiness
  • Thick nasal discharge (yellow or green)
  • Headaches or sinus pain
  • Postnasal drip and sore throat
  • Decreased sense of smell or taste
  • Fatigue or difficulty sleeping

If these symptoms persist for more than 10 days or occur frequently throughout the year, you may have chronic sinusitis, and it’s time to see a specialist.

Say goodbye to sinus pressure and hello to relief.

How we treat sinusitis

At Peak ENT, we believe in treating the source, not merely the symptoms. After a comprehensive exam and imaging (such as an in-office CT scan), we tailor your treatment plan based on the severity and underlying cause of your sinusitis.
  • Nasal sprays and medications – To reduce inflammation and manage infections
  • Allergy testing and treatment – For patients whose sinusitis is allergy-related
  • Saline rinses and nasal irrigation – To flush out allergens and clear congestion
  • Antibiotic therapy – For bacterial infections not resolving on their own
  • Balloon sinuplasty – A minimally invasive, in-office procedure that gently opens blocked sinus passages to restore normal drainage
  • Surgical intervention – In severe or recurring cases, surgery may be recommended to remove obstructions or correct structural problems
