Nosebleed Care at Peak ENT

Stop the bleeding. Find lasting relief.

An occasional nosebleed can be a minor nuisance — but frequent or severe nosebleeds may be a sign of an underlying issue that needs attention. At Peak ENT, we offer expert diagnosis and treatment for epistaxis (nosebleeds), helping you understand what’s causing them and how to prevent them in the future.

Whether you’re dealing with recurring nosebleeds, post-injury bleeding, or complications from dry air or allergies, our team is here to help you breathe easier and feel more confident.

What is epistaxis?

Epistaxis is the medical term for a nosebleed. It occurs when blood vessels inside the nasal cavity rupture and bleed. These vessels are delicate and close to the surface, making them prone to injury from irritation, trauma, or environmental factors.

Nosebleeds can be:

  • Anterior – Bleeding from the front of the nose (most common and easiest to treat)

  • Posterior – Bleeding from deeper in the nasal cavity (less common but often more severe)

While most nosebleeds are not dangerous, recurring or hard-to-stop bleeding deserves a medical evaluation.

Common causes of nosebleeds

Many factors contribute to or trigger a nosebleed, including:

  • Dry air or low humidity
  • Allergies or frequent nasal irritation
  • Repeated nose-blowing or sneezing
  • Upper respiratory infections
  • Nasal trauma (picking, injury, or surgery)
  • Deviated septum
  • Use of nasal sprays or blood thinners
  • High blood pressure
  • Underlying blood clotting disorders
  • Tumors (rare, but important to rule out in chronic or severe cases)

When to see an ENT specialist

You should seek professional care if you experience:

  • Frequent nosebleeds (more than once or twice a week)
  • Nosebleeds that last longer than 15–20 minutes
  • Bleeding after trauma or nasal surgery
  • Bleeding that comes from both nostrils
  • Accompanying symptoms like dizziness, facial pain, or unexplained bruising
  • History of clotting disorders or use of anticoagulant medications
