Throat & Neck

Whoa!  Those are some HUGE tonsils!

Tonsils & Adenoids
Your tonsils may need to be removed if you experience frequent sore throats, strep throat, airway obstruction, and/or white deposits within the tonsils.  Tonsils and adenoids are the body’s first line of defense as part of the immune system. They “sample” bacteria and viruses that enter the body through the mouth or nose, but they sometimes become infected.  At times, they become more of a liability than an asset and may even cause the conditions noted above.

Tonsils and Adenoids: Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy (T&A) are among the most performed surgeries by Peak ENT’s doctors. Click here to learn what to expect after the surgery.

Mouth & Throat
Besides tonsils and adenoids, the mouth and throat are full of anatomy.  If you think about it, we breathe, eat, talk, and sing using the bodily structures in the same general area.  When something doesn’t feel right in the mouth or throat, it can seriously affect the way we go about our lives.  Our doctors treat all conditions of the mouth, throat and neck, including:

What would you do without your voice or even with a diminished voiced?!  Your voice is invaluable in social interactions, in the workplace, as well as for hobbies.   Whether or not you’re in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir or trying out for NBC’s The Voice, a healthy voice goes a long ways toward an enjoyable and productive life.  Unfortunately, many conditions can change or affect the quality of the voice.  Fortunately, the doctors at Peak ENT are specially trained in diagnosing and treating voice problems.  Additionally, Peak ENT has a voice therapist on staff who aids in improving vocal quality and can perform a Videostroboscopy, which is a state-of-the-art diagnostic tool that provides a magnified, slow-motion view of your vocal cords in action.  It enables our doctors and voice therapist to make an accurate initial diagnosis of vocal cord issues and then view improvement after treatment.

Thyroid & Parathyroid
During the last decade or so, more people have become aware of the thyroid and parathyroid through self-education and through the media.  Many national celebrities have shared their experiences, which have helped others understand how the thyroid works.  With such a demand for thyroid services, the doctors at Peak ENT started the Thyroid Institute of Utah.

The Thyroid Institute of Utah is where all aspects of thyroid and parathyroid treatment are managed and coordinated.  From initial evaluation and blood tests to ultrasounds and post-operative care, the Thyroid Institute of Utah integrates all diagnosis and treatment at one location where a knowledgeable, comprehensive team of thyroid specialists, including endocrinologists and surgeons, provide dedicated thyroid care in a friendly and reassuring environment.  This concept of highly-coordinated care allows for quicker results and diagnosis in fewer visits.  If surgery is needed, Peak ENT’s doctors use the latest technology to perform minimally invasive surgical procedures.
